Receiving the “storage full” notification on your iPhone can be extremely frustrating, especially if you are about to take a photo. But there are a few tricks you can try to free up some storage space on your iPhone.
To start, we can usually we can blame our photos for problems with iPhone (or iPad) storage space. Many of us are guilty of deleting our most recent, least important photos in order to deal with this problem. Rather than resorting to this temporary fix, try these 2 things:
One thing you can do to free up storage space eaten up by photos is to enable iCloud storage space. It’s possible that you may need to pay to add more iCloud storage, so keep this in mind if you’re looking for a no-cost solution. In order to enable iCloud storage go to settings, photos and camera, turn on iCloud Photo Library, and select Optimize iPhone/ iPad storage.
Second, you can download an app to store your photos on such as Drop Box or Google Photos. That said, Google photos is a great choice because it offers unlimited storage for free.
Besides photos, old text messages can unnecessarily take up up storage space.

If you have years of text threads living on your phone, you can set them to delete after 30 days.
To do this, go to settings, messages, keep messages, and select keep for 30 days
Finally, one of the easiest things you can do to free up storage is to delete unused/rarely used apps.

Its easy to let an old app hang out on your phone without realizing its eating up space (ie: are you still playing Pokemon Go?). Remember, you can always re-download an app if you want to use it again in the future.
On an unrelated note, you can also save yourself some battery life by deleting an unused app. If the app doesn’t allow you to shut off background app refresh, it could be draining your battery. So deleting an app like this could help free up space and improve battery life.
